Event Wrap UpThe first weekend in July saw over 3000 competitors make the pilgrimage to Appin for the third edition of the Tough Bloke Challenge Sydney. For the first time in the event history, the TBC was run over two days to accommodate the influx of entries and give everyone a fair crack at the course. This year also featured a new event centre, a fantastic live band The Jefferson; and a return of the dreaded Wall culminating in a fantastic weekend of Mud, Sweat and Smiles! Saturday produced both male and female winners in the elite category. Alex PITKETHLY took out the male elite category in a blistering time of 32:43. Kylie Johnson took line honours for the female elites in a time of 36:39. Every year we see some inspiring performances from our age group categories and this year was no exception. Geoff Perman racing in the 50+ male category clocked a time of 33:01, beating his nearest rival by over 7 minutes. Not bad for an old timer! Not to be outdone was 18 year old Joshua Matheson clearing the course in a record time of 29:37. Joshua now holds the race record for this event and he is the only person to go sub 30 minutes at the Tough Bloke Challenge Sydney. Congratulations to all tough blokes and chicks on completing the 2011 TBC. |
